Ah yes…Agnes plans for fifteen minutes of fame! Which is about as long as over exploited “gifts” tend to last. Treat it with respect if you want to keep it.
I agree with Patsy. Agnes has an incredibly hard life, in some ways, with more thrust upon her than the ordinary child.
Part of that is high intelligence with no outlet for understanding other than Trout, and physical attributes that could be called, at best, challenging.
Her amazing efforts to shine in a world that seems to reject her at every turn are what make this strip funny and poignant.
I remember growing up in the 60s and 70s…we were programmed to believe that every kid could grow up to be President of the United States, and that every kid should grow up to be president of something. What a relief to realise that those who were pressuring us hardest weren’t president of anything, either.

Agnes, I would say maybe forgetting was your gift….. had I not already claimed it as my own.

Agnes is a deep thinker, and very under-appreciated.

Agnes only wants to use her brain during the summer – it becomes a big back of nothing once school starts!

No one has ever told her it’s ok to relax.
