You see! Some of us assume one or the other is right. In this case an airplane or indeed perhaps a helicopter. Which is it really? Perhaps neither… Perhaps the pilot would be the voters and just want something that flies regardless of whether it is a helicopter or an airplane.
Kreole wants to live in a fascist state where the president is not merely the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces (a la the Constitution) but the Commander-in-Chief of the nation, the Leader (“Fuhrer” in German). He thinks Obama is lacking in leadership (“Fuhrung”). The Congress, according to the Constitution, and certainly in the minds of the founders, is the voice of the people, and the entire American revolution was fought to prevent anyone other than the elected representatives of the people from deciding how the people’s money is to be collected or spent. Remember “No Taxation without Representation”? Personally, I think the country would be better off today if Obama had been in charge since he took office, rather than the grandstanding ideologues we have chosen to represent us in congress. But make no mistake, the people of America are in charge, liberals and conservatives alike. And unless we grow up, stop listening to demagogues, and realize we are always going to have a country and a government that is a mixture of liberal and conservative, and that the other side is not the enemy, but just as much part of what makes us US as we are, we are going to continue to elect people who will keep America in decline.
@towerwarlock – Obama’s great mistake was believing that he could compromise with the Republicans. Obamacare was what happens when you compromise too much.@tigger – I doubt we’ll see a deal. the only compromise the Republicans want is their way.
No way, Tigger. The Right has already said they won’t compromise. I think it notable that in eliminating the tax exemption for interest on second homes, in the Repub plan, if the value of the home is over $500,000 it is retained. Does that show where their sentiments lie?
The larger problem is that American citizens don’t want to pay for the amount of government services that they want. It’s no wonder our representatives in Congress can’t come to any consensus!
All you have to do is look up the bill and count the amendments. I am going on the testimony from the floor of the House by a Mr. Poe® Tex. (If I recall correctly) who said he didn’t believe it until he had his staffers count the amendments. He said there were over 400 Republican amendments.

The Pilot is in charge….and control of the airplane….at least he is supposed to be. If he isn’t, then maybe he isn’t qualified to be the pilot.

Ramming the health care bill through? I guess that is the reason there are over 400 amendments to the bill from Republicans?
