Thanx for the infoTonight on Washington Week (PBS) the show was different from usual in that they really don’t know what is going to happen if we default.Perhaps I should stuff some greenbacks in my mattress?
It’s also an open end wrench in the ‘toon, not a monkey wrench- so the open-ended stupidity of the GOP doesn’t even require a million monkeys to type up their plan?
Right-wingers talk about reducing government as if it’s oppressing the individual citizen. But pull back government power, and what do we see filling the vacuum? Not the citizen, but Big Brother and the Holding Co. – the super-size global corporations controlled by a tiny elite elected by no one but themselves. Democracy is becoming a passing dream of the past.
If the rest of the world followed asaid’s plan, we’d all be better off!…except who would you/they sell your/their manufactured goods to? And your/their (heavily subsidised) agricultural produce? Your internal market(s)? Buy, buy, buy National ! And keep buying ’cos you still produce lots of it. An internal market of 305 million is far better than a market of 7 billion. :-|If you’re going just consume national products, don’t be hypocrites by producing too much for export. Nationalism, how I love it.
To quote PJ O’Rourke near as I can from memory “The Democrats say government will solve all your problems, whiten your teeth, and put hair back on your head. The Republicans say government is the problem – then get elected and prove it.”
That’s one of the dumbest quotes I have ever seen. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that cutting the branch you’re sitting on will result in you busting your @44 on the ground below. Talk about endorsing ignorance.
asaid, “liberals” have absolutely no problem with money being in “private hands”— as long as that money isn’t picked from the public’s, or other “private folks’” pockets- like subsidies, tax breaks, cheap or free access to publicly owned natural resources, phony cost-overruns on “defense” contracts- etc.

What happens when the troops don’t get paid. That might end the 2 wars and have exactly the opposite effect that the repubs want.

Tigger must have those comments on a clipboard as they’re repeatedly used for everything, without any editing for accuracy.
