Actually, Smokey is an extension of Mona, her eldest brother, and the Chinese(?) factory worker who made him. If it were Mona who brought him to life, he would be a mindless yes-bunny who would just go with whatever Mona says. It also doesn’t explain the chauvinism Smokey displays whenever Mona needs help with her relationships. That’s where her eldest brother and maybe the factory worker come in. So really, Mona is trying to create the relationship she never had with her brothers through Smokey.
I’m in my late teens. My closest confidant is my battered old teddy, Wadsworth (he was meant to be named Wordsworth, after the poet, but I got him when I was one and made a mess of his name. Now he is Wadsworth for convenience.) He’s about fifteen years old, has changed from white to a kind of dirty yellow-cream, and his fur’s a mess. I wuv him dearly and can’t get to sleep without knowing where he is. <3
