Proven fact: If you keep saying something over and over, even if it’s idiotic, after awhile, it will become the truth. The rules may have changed, but reality is a little more stubborn.

When Bush got into office and found a surplus, he immediately gave out tax breaks. Now we have the largest deficit ever and the GOP answer is cut grandma’s medicare…. you go tea party.

I can bet that neither Clinton, Bush, or Obama stayed up burning the midnight oil, tinkering with the economy. They just react to it.

The sad thing is that the Democrats have some excellent ideas, and are completely unable to try them. So the Republicans can run in 2012 claiming that Democratic ideas didn’t work… because they were able to block jobs bills, tax bills, and continue Bush spending policies.

The idiocy quotient is unusually high today. When we fought WWI and WWII — and the Civil War, for that matter — one of the first things the government had to do was raise revenues. Paying taxes and buying war bonds was patriotic. It supported our nation.George W. Bush started two wars, neither of which he finished, and not only did not ask for sacrifice, but cut taxes on the wealthiest — repeatedly. Why do you THINK we’ve got a deficit? It isn’t because we are paying teachers too much, or because of “entitlements” that WE PAID FOR (like Social Security). It’s because we cut our national income and increased our national spending.Get a clue, folks. It’s time for taxes to go up. If they only went up on the wealthiest by a few percent, we would start getting rid of this deficit. But the GOP won’t admit that, though they know it, and the Democrats aren’t willing to call for taxes and let the GOP hammer them.Cuts won’t do it. There isn’t enough fat in the budget to do it.
