nope, it has more with LBJ starting a “war on poverty” that he knew was just a power grab…here we are, 50 years later and the war continues..because Liberals just don’t accept basic economic facts.

This is the same reason that the government should not be in the business of health care. They screw up everything when they get involved. This would not have happened if the government had not gone to the banks and forced them to loan to people that could not normally qualify for loans all in the name of getting “the American Dream”!

I don’t remember being foreclosed on a house being that dream. It was more like “you can get anything you want if you work hard enough for it.” That’s what the dream was supposed to be.

All of these programs and “stimulus” bills are just a money grab. None of them work but the money is gone. They are stealing right in front of us and no one is doing anything about it! Now they want to raise the debt ceiling so they can steal more! Guess what? You’ve stolen everything and there is nothing left!

No one held a gun to their collective heads and forced them to refinance their outrageously over priced homes. I don’t know how many conservative friends insisted it was “free money” now they are upside down and blame Obama for their greedy house flippin ways.

    Ruff-

You are correct. I am tired of other people playing with MY money! Fact is that there would be no government unless there were people who make money pay taxes. I agree that the speculators, security traders, and lawyers are a major part of the problem. Add to it the power of government officials and we have a mess that we might never get out of.

That whole “Greed is good” statement from the movies is bunk.

If you give the rich more money, they’ll gladly put it right back into the economy. *It’s a “basic economic fact,” or so I’m told by economic conservatives. *

“Government screws up everything, blah, blah, blah”. Yep, just take a look at what contracting to “private defense suppliers” costs us, especially now that there’s corporate monopoly instead of competition. Let’s get smart and STOP spending on military equipment that either doesn’t work, or isn’t “cost effective”. That would be about a 40% overnight reduction in “government waste”.

We could use those savings to bail out every homeowner in the country who’s run afoul of “lenders” who’ve given them the shaft, while walking off with the gold created with “imagination”.

^I’m seriously wondering if the war on terror cost the US more than WW2 has by now…

So SrNONcerebral would have every American going back to eating dog food when they get old then? I guess he doesn’t realize that LBJ cut poverty in the U.S. by almost half! Were it not for that stupid war he’d be up there rubbing elbows with FDR.

House flipping speculators drove the price out of many people’s range. I hope that market never recovers. I don’t have a $40K house that the “market” says is worth a hundred, I have a roof.

Wow. By EVERY measure, the government is better at health care than the private insurance companies. Medicare is cheaper and has better outcomes than private insurance.
