President Barack Obama: Health industry cost cuts? What are the ingredients? Pharmacist: I'll get that information to you. Obama: What's the dosage? Pharmacist: Still to be determined. Obama: And the effectiveness? Pharmacist: We'll get back to you on that. Obama: Side effects? Pharmacist: None. Obama: How do you know? Pharmacist: Bottle's empty. Obama: Yet I feel better already. Pharmacist: Ah... the placebo effect! Ask Your Pharmacist.

“Yet I feel better already.”
Probably because we’re actually working on things that will improve this country.
But, we’re not there. Yet.

Bottle’s empty/promises are empty. The for profit healthcare industry is furiously trying to keep the inequitable system alive, unlike their intent for sick people.

How is universal health care (aka ObamaCare) going to improve this country? All that it will do is ration health care (see Canada), increase waiting times to see specialists (see Canada), and cost the taxpayer more money (England has a 50% tax rate to pay for their univeral health care system).
It seems the administration has come up with some ideas (I will admit, some have potential to be good) that may look good on paper, but without any foresight to see how it will impact the every-day joe, and how they’re going to pay for it.
Can’t keep borrowing money from China, eventually have to pay the piper.
Quick factoid: The math for Obama’s 2010 budget works out this way: To pay for it, the Feds would have to Seize (tax at 100%) the incomes of anyone who makes 65k or more a year. Drop that number if we keep stacking on garbage like ObamaCare.

“How is universal health care (aka ObamaCare) going to improve this country?”
We’ll pay less for better care?
“All that it will do is ration health care (see Canada),”
I have friends in Canada. They don’t see rationing.
“increase waiting times to see specialists (see Canada),”
You mean, there’s absolutely zero wait time to see specialists in the United States? If I wanted to see a specialist right now, could I go down there and see one in 10 minutes?
“and cost the taxpayer more money (England has a 50% tax rate to pay for their univeral health care system).”
Really? 50% of their income goes to paying for UHC? Wow. I’d like to see some evidence of that.
Let’s face it. We pay 15.2% of our GDP (versus Canada’s 9.8% and the UK’s 8.2%) towards health care currently and rank 37th (Canada ranks 30th and England ranks 18th). Is that what you want?

It would sure improve it for the 1 in 6 who have no healthcare now as well as those getting laid off and losing their coverage. It will be better for the small businesses that are getting strangled by policy costs. It will be better for the taxpayers who are already paying for their own and ultimately footing the bill for the uninsured ANYWAY.
I understand your poor feeble brain can only see it as socialism… but can that tiny little mind also understand that the system is broken now and that we need to fix it before it sucks in half of our entire economy?
