Get a good job? Provide for your family?? Be a responsible voter? Know how to take care of the environment?! Alix: OK, OK!!! Sigh... Assignment: Make a topographic map of Canada using rice, beans and macaroni.

Brilliant! This is a nice illustration of how pointless a lot of homework is, especially in elementary school.

Personally, I think Mom’s on the right track. This will definitely prepare Alix for a job in the real world. Except this assignment still has a little too much practical value.

When I was a kid we always asked the teacher, “How will this prepare me for my future life?” And most of the time the teacher had no answer lol!

Man, that’d be a difficult project. I imagine lots of beans for mountains, macaroni for hills and rice for the prairies. Canada has lots of terrain. Might be costly. That teacher is a sadist.
