Joan: I say we start at the Newberry mall, then hit the Brookside mall, and swing through Weebee toys on the way home...we might get halfway through the kids whis lists today. Wally: Why are the holidays always about shopping? Why aren't they about friends and hot cider and cookies? Let's go home, gather up the family and play games in front of a warm fire! Joan: But what about the kids?? Their gifts?! Wally: We'll be setting a wonderful example. Joan: You don't want to give them anything?! Wally: I want to give them something by not buying them anything. Joan: You're such a kidder! Look - a parking spot. Wally: Sigh

The best gift is family. Agree or not, but when they’re gone, no gift under the tree can replace them.

Yep, but the key is moderation. Fewer gifts, more family time. Not all of one and none of the other.
