Wally: I should think you'd want to get married again, Joan. To lighten your load a little. Joan: Wally, like it or not, marriage is different for women and men. Let's take my "ex" Leon. Our marraige was a disaster. A complete mistake. When it ended, Leon moved on... and put this "episode" behind him. But that marriage gave us Max. What was just an "episode" for Leon has become my life story. If I'm cautious, it's only because I'm trying to avoid any repeats. Wally: So- think of me as the new fall lineup! Joan: Well, so far your ratings are good.

Getting married does not lighten the load for women. It’s just one more person to cook for, do laundry for, shop for. The load is lightened for men, who no longer have to do that stuff for themselves. And if children come along, the woman’s workload gets even heavier.
