It is pretty disgusting what the street has become.
The institution has been responsible for the amazing industrial growth of America, through capital formation, and provision of such for enterprises that produced goods / wealth and jobs.
Until it was overtaken by MBA-crowd that developed computer programs designed to make nothing but money, by socializing risk, but capitalizing profit.
Capitalism works well as long as government remember the two following attitudes towards businesses:
You’re doing well? Congratulations!
You’re doing badly? Sucks to be you.
We currently have the whole d** thing in reverse. Hate and vilify them when they do well, coddle them when they scrape their knees and cry like babies.
Well, it is a bad thing when you are personally on the short end of the stick, work hard and are only paid minimum wage.
Look at the fast food joint for example, there are a dozen or so paid minimum wage, and only one Manager, paid a bit better, and perhaps a couple of Assistant Managers slightly ahead of the rank and file.
The big guy at the top reaps the most rewards on the backs of the many, usually underpaid. There are a very limited number of top guy jobs with the big money.
Sure it is, peter. Here are the trademarks of capitalism:
Property/capital is privately controlled - check
labor, goods and capital are traded in a market - check.
profits are distributed to owners or invested in new technologies and industries - check (distributed to owners)
and wages are paid to labor - eh… check.
Just because it doesn’t look like you think capitalism should look doesn’t mean it is not.

^ & ^^ Er, am I observing a couple of ardent Capitalists complaining bitterly about their beloved system? Makes this little capitalist laugh.

Ain’t capitalism.

It is no accident that Big Corporations and Big Labor are in love with Big Government.
That is more akin to Fascism than Capitalism.

So we all seem to agree that we have to keep control of since Big Corporations ruin things because they are only interested in maximising profits.
Aren’t most of the Health Care Companies Corporations?

The citizen is powerless against corporate interests , one of the foulest of all expressions is ” We Have a Responsibility to our shareholders”
“A government of the people by the people for the people ” A.L.
