At the bottom (second from left), Calvin has turned the world upside down, at least from his perspective. In the same panel, I see the bippitys, but where’s the boppity boo?

Yes, the other kids should get a charge out of it. Calvin might earn enough to buy a new umbrella and wagon.

For Phapada (Corey)People of all ages come here from all over the world to read reruns of Calvin and Hobbes. Some write comments to one another. Many others only read the comments. Many really enjoy the diversity. A few seek uniformity. All are human. All have good days and bad days. And for some, their writing sometimes reflects this. A few badly need more good days. Most have a great sense of humor. Most really enjoy laughing at Calvin and Hobbes. A few may find it difficult to laugh at themselves. Most are very kind and welcoming people. Most would make very good friends if we could meet them in person. Some speak other languages, but they try to write comments in English. They may have very little experience with English, but they have a whole lot of courage. Most people here have faces that we will never see. Most have names that we will never know. But most of us find our lives enriched by the others who are here, and we give a warm welcome to those who join us – especially to those who are different from us.

@Hobbes- thanks for the link to the Peanuts strip… For me, it went a long way in explaining why, in the following years, Lucy was always pulling the football out from Charlie Brown. Payback, as they say…. lol

Being bounced and thrown upon the ground over & over -$200.00

Hobbes, your comments were wonderful and right on. I’ve been admiring the comments from the people who dive in and make comments in enlish even though it’s far from perfect. The communication is still there.

Snoopy sure is cute in those early strips.

Reasons this trip would be very appreciated right now:(1) It ends in a pond. Ponds are nice and cool.(2) Even though the sun is shining with all his might, the umbrella hints it might rain soon.(3) It does look like a really great ride! Except maybe around that 6th/7th panel moment.

Same long-winded thing, over and over. Grab a tissue and play misty for me. Let’s all join hands now. On the other hand… Calvin looks like he knows how to have fun, do R & D for his business model and enjoy his ‘work’.

Hi 41keys. Thanks for your comment. Whether a poster is a non-native English speaker or a young child, I’m happy to see them post here, even if there are days when it is difficult to understand them. They are doing their best to participate, and over time they will learn from others. And it’s fun for all of us to see them improve over time.

Hi Jolly Ollie. The early Peanuts strips are a lot of fun. Charlie Brown is more brash in many of them – more like Calvin. And some of the early strips have physical humor that is hilarious – also like Calvin and Hobbes.

Hi Grog. Have you read the earliest B.C. strips, from the late1950s and the 1960s? They are some of the best. Too bad GoComics doesn’t have them. Of course, they are pre-Grog…..

Eternal thanks to Bill Waterson for giving us great Calvin ingenuity without resorting to Sacrin-sweet, feel-good fuzzies. I never had a make-believe playmate, but if I had have, I’d sure like him to be just like Hobbes.

that by far is the kids why of flying does it work you might ask? . . .I don’t think so, unless you wanted to fall on your face in the lake, Which I think Calvin has taught us that by now, all too well.

Hi JoanHelen. Lucy wasn’t even in the very first Peanuts strips. Later she was introduced as a toddler, and she had aged very quickly by the time of that early strip, which was two years after Peanuts began. If you scroll up about 25 or 30 comments, I posted a link to a second Peanuts strip that you will also enjoy – Lucy pulling away the football for the first time.
