Turbans, turbines! C’mon, gang. Lay off poor Anubis!

(Aside to Justin: Always back-up. In your profession, one of those commercial back-up services would be a wise investment!)

Justin, Gotta invest in one of those automatic back-up systems. They do all of the work and you get all of the security.

BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP I’m in publishing and have 2 external hard drives and programs to automatically copy any file that changes. I would have been out of business by now or at the nearest Ha Ha Hilton without that backup. Love your comic. Just discovered it a couple three months ago. Still trying to catch up to the beginning. Good Luck and keep ticklin’.

An external storage drive is always a good option too.

It was an external hard drive that failed. I usually always back up and copy everything, but… for some reason I hadn’t backed up lately and there ya go. Lack of diligence bites me in the tail. But I’ve selected some really fun repeats from way back, hopefully y’all haven’t seen them in a while. Sorry.

Justin, whatever you put up here will be enjoyed. I have two external hard drives for my photo collection. But that’s just stuff. Get a service!

Justin knows about backup; he just has the same problem we all have - DOING the backup. I have a 500 GB internal, a 200GB external, and a 1 TB external. Didn’t do me a bit of good when the original 200GB failed and I hadn’t backed up the files on it (was going to, of course, soon). Now, anything important is not only on 2 different HDs, it’s also burned to DVDs and saved.

I just remembered something funny. When the floppy discs first came out, they were like magic. 1.44 MBs. You could put any program in the world on one of those - more memory than a person would EVER need, if you had a few floppies (I think my first regular computer only had a few MBs actual storage). Now my computer doesn’t even HAVE a floppy connection (or a parallel port, for that matter). I bought a floppy ext. player just for old time’s sake, but certainly can’t do too much with them now.

Thanks for that info about the storage drive Justin, if trusting them isn’t a good idea then, I guess burning everything to DVD-Rs might be the move.

I’ve got a Windows Home Server, backs up at 3 AM every day. The only thing I’m missing is offsite storage.

    Hey Justin,

    1) Backing up Joe’s offer, my archive goes back two additional days to Nov 15, 2007 although my files, as probably is Joe’s, are downloaded images from gocomics, not your originals.

    2) Multiple backups are the only safe way to go and one of them really should be off site. Online backup is not only off site but is convenient, can be automated and can be free.

One of the sites that I use [http://www.box.net/] is quite easy to use, professionally operated and is free. A free account (email address only is required), offers 1 GB of private storage and 25 MB uploads. There are paid accounts with more features but 1 GB should be enough for many years worth of images. If you want to ensure privacy protection I would suggest “zipping” your images into an encrypted, password protected file and then uploading the archive. Even better would be to establish two different online providers and backup regimens - “just in case”.

If I can be of any help, click on    http://www.box.net/shared/x2opc6jlnl to get my contact info.

Aargh, Justin, do you mean you lost your buffer of NEW stuff we haven’t seen?? Woe!

Srsly, discuss this w/ Karma. She must be feeling neglected or something. Maybe you should star her more often?

Karma might not be the one to have a talking with, you might need to check for gremlins.

This sure has the feel of Karma on it. We are mostly aware of good Karma at this site but bad K also exists.

4deer has the right idea, give her some more roles.
