I remember Halloween of 1980. I had the task of passing out the candy. It bugged me to no end that almost every little kid – and I’m talking REALLY little kids, including 5 & 6 year-olds – would knock on the door, then say, “Trick or Treat! Vote for Carter!” or “Trick or Treat! Vote for Reagan!” I couldn’t believe that parents would make their kids do something like that.
