Judge Merchan is obviously biased and severely compromised. He should have recused himself. Allow xxx in his courtroom to poison the jury justifies a mistrial. Trump will skate. This case is all wet.
Could Mike Lester be any more morally dishonest? Judge Merchan has not made any comments of this nature, to anyone, and there is no evidence he is communicating in any way with any way with Trump’s political opponents. Lester’s character is manifesting in disgusting ways.
I’m reminded, both from this cartoon, and some of the inane comments above, of an observation that C.S. Lewis made in “The Four Loves”. Lewis said that if a person dares open one’s heart and to take a chance on serious love, his (or her) heart will be broken. The only way to avoid this event, and it’s sadness, is for one to avoid receiving or giving love. To instead lock up one’s heart, and replace love with the exploration of trivial pleasures, or to give oneself over selfish gratifications. Then, Lewis said, one’s heart will eventually become unbreakable. I wonder, given Lester’s (apparent) heartless, right-wing approach to this topic, and so many others which deal with the common good, that his heart is thoroughly ossified now, and encased in concrete for good measure.
Yes, it is because of “rule of law” that Trump is in his current circumstance. It is why NO ONE has absolute immunity in this country. And, it is why his team will mount a defense and if the verdict goes against him, that is why he will have the right to appeal. That is how the system works.
These types of cases are tried all the time in New York, the financial capitol of the world. A question: If Trump is not guilty of anything that he has been charged with, why did grand juries, after being presented with facts, vote to have these cases go forward? No Biden, no political witch hunt. AND, if Trump is not guilty of anything, why don’t his lawyers rush these cases to trial to prove his innocence?

Did TFG enjoy his attorney referring to him as “The Orange Txrd” floating a the toilet bowl – forever available to historians in the coming years?

Funny, since it is Merchan who is enforcing the rule of law

I don’t know why Biden is in the picture here. He has nothing to do with how or why NY State pursues legal matters.
I also don’t see why Mr. Lester thinks Mr. Trump would pull out his rule of law umbrella. He’s pretty much ignored for most of his life.
