Years ago I was in an auto parts store in Florida, desperately trying to think of an intelligent way to ask about a part I needed for my car. One of the young service reps. approached me and with a smile said, “You’ve got that look of a deer caught in the headlights. Let’s see if we can figure out what you need…”
He was as good as his word and within minutes solved my problem without making me feel like a first-class mechanical moron.
I told his manager what a gem of an employee he had.
