One of several reasons why airdropping aid at random is far from the best way to deliver it. It may well be better than nothing, but . . . it’s not enough, it’s not reliable, it’ll lead to people doing incredibly dangerous things as they struggle to get to the crates first (because if they don’t, it’ll all be gone before they get there), there’s no way to ensure order and security at the drop sites (because they’re only slightly better than random), and sometimes the actual aid will land on them and kill them.
The lifting of the decades-long naval blockade will help, but the land crossings need to be opened too. Even that won’t solve everything, because social order has been broken down. Israel is determined to destroy Hamas, and since Hamas is, for better or worse, the elected government of Gaza, that means Israel has committed itself to destroying the entire civil infrastructure of Gaza. By refusing to allow the UN to resume aid deliveries as well, Israel is additionally refusing to allow independent outsiders to take on that role. So it will be entirely ad hoc, which is the perfect storm to allow for the rise of profiteers and gangs.
I do not see this resolving anytime soon, happily or otherwise.

Airdrops are clumsy but better than nothing. Agreed, it’s not a good fix for a starving population.

The parachutes can be used as tents or body bags.
