Reminds me of trying to read my History textbook in school. Got home, told mom I needed glasses. When asked why I thought so, I said “Because my arms aren’t going to get any longer.”
So he’s far sighted as I am. I can sometimes read stuff on the computer when I’m a few feet away from it but a book close up, and I need my reading glasses.
First time I went to get glasses I explained why. the female assistant said “42 are you, because that’s when sight starts to fail”. Regrettably there was no other optometrist around.

My niece got glasses when her Dad took her to get drivers license and she couldn’t pass the eye test.
