A taste of the “mean streets” emphasis on " mean".

A couple of my cats (especially Joy, who is part Siamese), meow a lot. I wish I knew what the heck they’re trying to tell me.

Nellis Air Base is conducting “Red Flag” training. I don’t know what went overhead at 10PM, but I’ll bet the Millennium Falcon sounded just like that. I went out to look but it was just a BIG black shape….no lights. Maybe they ARE testing the zmillennium Falcon.

Nearly every morning when I wake up, Panther is sleeping in the big cat tree that I have in one of my bedroom windows. I keep the curtains closed at night because I don’t like any light shining in the window while I’m sleeping. If it’s a sunny day, I open the curtains when I get up so the cats can enjoy the sunshine. Well, yesterday morning, it was rainy and gloomy out, so I didn’t open the curtains. But Panther was in her usual spot in the cat tree (she has a favorite spot near the top of the cat tree where she always sleeps). I quietly walked up to her and I put my hand right next to her, almost touching her. I expected her to run off, but she didn’t move. I gave her one stroke on her tail and she still didn’t run. But she sort of glared at me as if to say, “How dare you?” Then I reached up and got one stroke down her back before she got up, hissed at me and jumped down to a lower level of the cat tree where she was more or less out of reach because she was hidden by one of the posts. She gave me a dirty look, then she left the bedroom. It wasn’t much, but this was the first time in quite a while that I actually touched her. I sort of gloated at her and told her. “See? I touched you and it didn’t hurt at all, did it?”

Huh, I never thought of it that way. A cat’s meows are really subtle.

Cats only meow at humans, never at other cats. Meowing is a kind of baby talk.

Maybe humans would be better of if we were limited to “Meow”

I know what Miss Abbie McFlooferson is saying to me, “Auntie Tammy, did you bring me treats?” She knows! She knows. LOL

Sounds like “meow” can mean a lot of things. My cats usually meow when they want to be fed. Thankfully, I’ve never found a mouse in my overcoat. On another note, saw four robins, two juncos, and two rabbits while out walking today.
