Opus, you are not alone. There are hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands out there all swept up in the excitement. They all tend to vote “all swept up in the excitement” too, which explains a lot about today’s conditions.

2008 Presidential election was about getting swept up in the excrement. For both major candidates, I might add.

Nowadays, Opus would be ordering a Shamwow and Oxyclean.

The Oxyclean commercials are so much more pleasant now that they’ve taken the Billy Mays voiceovers off of them, and have someone rational- sounding giving the spiel about the product.

Doctor Toon, that was the best comment I’ve ever seen on here. I wish more people would pull their heads out of their, er, keisters, and enjoy life.

I think the reason Billy Mays was so much in demand was the way he shouted at the viewers; if you’re loud enough, you can make people do things without really thinking, and that’s what “special TV offer” products are all about.

That reminds me - my Popeil Pocket Fisherman is getting old; I could use a new one, and maybe some more Ginsu knives……..

Just one objection, Doctor Toon. Bloom County was so shot through with both then-current politics and universals of the human condition that it’s often hard not to make connections with one’s own worldview.

The same is true of every great comic: even those that pretend to be detached from current events, never are.

That said, I agree with you 98%.
