He won a landslide re-election because that mound of people he’s standing on are all gangsters and members of crime cartels. The streets of El Salvador are safer than they have ever been. He was so effective that other S.A. Countries are considering emulating his policies. Notably, there have been few (I found none credible) reports of his abusing his power to go after political opponents. In this regard, El Salvador is less of a Banana Republic than is the USA.
