I am an accountant. When I started working I looked very young (and actually was a bit on the young side as due to when my birthday falls and finishing college in 3 years I was only 20 when I graduated). One (and only one) of the clients I was sent to objected to my being young. Boss told him that I was going to his books (I was taking over from an older woman who was no longer working for boss) and if he did not like it he could get another accountant.
When I got married some 5 or so years later I did not invite any clients to the wedding (did invite my boss & his wife). This was the only client who gave me a wedding gift.
