My dad got out of the dime store business in 1973. That was my last retail experience. Far as I can see the work environment has had only cosmetic changes, especially on the “customer facing” front.
She probly remembers when upstairs would send a note to the sales floor hanging on an alligator clip, sliding down a wire…(oops…I think I maybe dated myself!)
