I wonder why these idiots think that, if you plug an EV into a charger, somehow the electric grid detects if and automatically reroutes the connection over to a coal burning power plant. We have zero coal plants here in Oregon, and only one in Washington state. Most of our power comes from hydroelectric and natural gas, with a growing percentage coming from windmills. Coal accounts for less than 20% of power on the US electric grid and is dropping. Meanwhile, wind is providing over 10% already.

So far this year my solar panels have generated 18 Megawatts of power. My electric bill last month was -$180. The payment for my panels was $189.

Here’s an historical timeline for you, Mr. Payne, on energy production…

Beginning of time: (Many of these overlap)

Solar – The sun has powered the world since the dawn of time.

    Muscle (Human, Oxen, Horse, etc)

    Wood

    Wind/Water

    Coal/Steam

    Whale Oil/Petroleum

Nuclear – Fission and, someday soon, fusion.

Renewables: Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Tidal. Who knows what other sources the future may bring? Will we be ignorant and afraid of them as well?

It used to be that as we moved from one energy source to the next people applauded and said things like, “lt’s about time!”

Now we have morons who insist on using 19th century energy sources in a 21st century world.

Yes, your point is clear. The irony of solar batteries being manufactured in a coal powered plant.

Is this a situation anyone likes? No.

Are you prepared to support renewable/alternative energy sources? Maybe you are, but I doubt it. Prove me wrong.

Caution over something new is understandable. Deliberate ignorance is not.

Meanwhile, Chinese made EVs are growing in popularity in Europe and around the world. (Partially because the Chinese gov’t subsidizes the product) Seems like many have recognized the real costs associated with being addicted to the petroleum teat. Energy always has a cost, so what’s your point?

The challenge for all U.S. EV manufacturers is enticing the next wave of buyers who are reluctant primarily because of price, and the dearth of charging stations in large portions of the U.S., and the cost of installing home charging stations.

Previously unfathomed EV car lot overstocks may drive prices down but not interest rates. The Big 3 and Tesla have all slowed EV production and they are lobbying the White House for relaxing green edicts.

I may be biased, but hybrid technology should be given more emphasis vs. 100% electric. I own a hybrid because I cannot drive cross-country economically in an EV.

Too bad American companies thought it was more profitable to outsource making batteries to China.

Battery plants instead of power plants? Why is this a surprise? We recognize that Payne is too caught up in his right-wing wet dreams to be cognizant of blunders like this one. Or Payne’s so stupid that doesn’t know the difference between a power plant and any other industrial facility. Or both.

The cheapest way to generate electricity today is by solar power.

Let’s crash the U.S. economy over “Climate change” when the 2 biggest offenders, China and India are opening new coal mines etc. every week. Plus, China has most of the minerals required for car batteries so let’s help their economy. Lastly, anyone notice or care that California’s electric grid can’t handle what it already has, let alone converting all their cars to electric. Democrats – Ideas so great they have to be mandated. Remember this on election day next Nov.

Here you are right we shouldn’t solve any problem unless we can solve it 100%

We should have never stopped mining coal because oil also produces emissions. We should stop producing vaccines unless they are 100 % effective for 100% of the population

We should NEVER MAKE ANY IMPROVEMENTS……EVER

Even if the electricity comes from coal, it’s still less greenhouse gases emitted due to the scales of efficiency from a large generator vs a small engine.
