McCarthy wanted this job so much WE could smell it. And he gave up any pretense of actually DOING the job in order to get enough votes from crazy people to get the title. If he weren’t such a lackwit toad, I’d feel a little sorry for him. But it’s HIS hubris has brought him down… and I think he deserves what happens next.

Quite sure Mr. McCarthy would be unable to figure out the truth of why he wanted the job even if he “thought it out with both hands for a fortnight.”

But we may never figure out why voters wanted him for the job…

The Spineless slug got the job he wanted, so now let him stew in it! And then, when the Democrats keep the White House and take over the House AND the Senate after the 2024 election, THEN we will get someone in the job who actually KNOWS WHAT THE HE!! THEY ARE DOING!!!

Been saying this for years; the Republicans, in order to be competitive in elections, twenty odd years ago chose to bring in the extremes that both parties once, sensibly, kept at arm’s length. Instead of modernizing (heaven forbid) conservatism to suit a new century they chose wedge issues, tribalism and emotion over reasoned principles. They cannot win without the nut jobs and they cannot govern with them. They are hoist of their own petard, and they deserve it. I just hope the rest of us survive the fallout.
