Around here, they just switch the tune and keep selling popsicles & ice cream all year long. (Or they play Jingle Bells in the summer.

Definitely a part time job then.

But Red, according to your calculations, that means that he doesn’t get to see you and Rover for 75% of the year.

He needs that time to whittle new sticks.

It looks like Dr. Lick is getting in some practice licks!

Red will meet Popsicle Pete again, in 10th grade Algebra, he’s the math teacher, the poor guy has a 10 month a year teaching contract and has to sell ice cream in the summer to make ends meet.

but he doesn’t collect a pay as owner so he can’t collect unemployment the rest of the year. bummer

Once we moved to a new neighborhood I met a kid whose father was the Good Humor man where we had moved from. Boy he had a freezer full of ice cream!

At one time in my life, I thought the best job would be driving a beer truck. Good thing I never did. With my luck, it would have been Budweiser.

Our popsicle man was a friend of my brother’s. It’s a good job for students so they can just work during the summer term. Our popsicle man was also a karate instructor. Years later I took his class for a while. I liked martial arts, but found karate to be the most boring of the different classes I took. Karate is better at a bit of a distance, and I preferred the up close styles. Mostly judo and aikido.

I knew a hotdog street vendor who sold his hot dogs to the lunch crowd in a busy downtown city in Pennsylvania during the summer. When the weather turned, he just packed up and took the operation to Florida. So he worked all the time but to his patrons at one end of his circuit, it looked like he only worked half the year.

Red doesn’t realize Summer is Popsicle Pete’s part-time Summer job. Pete has another full-time job, too.

Free time is most definitely overrated……

Must not be hot if Red can walk barefoot on the road.
