Compared to most of my co-workers, I was vastly underpaid for most of my working life; better thought-out results, far fewer errors, better work ethic, etc. I decided to quit and retire when I interviewed at a place where a former co-worker was then employed. I had earlier proved his solution wouldn’t solve the client’s problem, but mine would. He denigrated me to the prospective employer. If they want people like him instead of me, I don’t want to work there.
