Curse! This could have consequences for the promotion mentioned yesterday.

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away

Now it looks as though they’re here to stay

Yesterday work was such an easy game to play

Well now we know why he was “considering” him for a promotion, rather than giving him a promotion.

Who wouldn’t want to miss an hour of self praise by the Chief?

How did he manage to miss it if he was there?

Well I’m still early for the next meeting Chief, when is it?

Brutus isn’t late for yesterday’s meeting, he’s early for the next one! Right? Please tell me I’m right!

Oops.

So the boss didn’t scold him yesterday for missing the meeting?

Brutus: A day late and a dollar short. My wife says I have a black cloud that follows me. Maybe I’ll change my name from Bill to Brutus?

whoops… guess it couldn’t make it yesterday then. the meeting must’ve gotten lost. :D

Oh, brother. Not only will our Brutus not get the promotion, he could get canned. But, not to worry, his old position of head whipping boy is still available.

In my best Maxwell Smart voice: “Missed it by that much.”

Brutus takes an extra long lunch break to make up for this mornings boo boo.

Oh dear. One wonders why Bossman didn’t tell him yesterday, but maybe he just enjoys torturing Brutus. Did he just make up the fact that there was a meeting yesterday?

Only Brutus Thornapple would arrive early for a meeting that he is already late for.

It was the thought that counts…

And thus endeth the brief glimpse of hope he had yesterday. I hope Gladys doesn’t rub it in with an “I told you so.”

In addition to my Charlie Brown and Lucy comment yesterday this strip evoked your January 1st strip where Brutus did the colossal wipeout on the ice!

But I thought yesterday’s meeting was to discuss what we’re going to discuss in today’s meeting.

It seems like there is one of those in every workplace. Brutus is a natural.

Chip, I’m devastated! Really, c’mon, Veeblefester is only kidding, right… Now Brutus is thinking, “he must be kidding, I reaffirmed the appointment last week”…

Brutus ask Veeblefester if you are going to get overtime for coming in early.
