I was in such a situation in Ocala one year. A friend worked at the church and was on duty when a Religio band was playing in the auditorium. I was visiting earlier in the day when he suggested that while I was hanging, I buy a ticket and see it. I liked how they now use LED lighting which takes away the heat of yesteryear incandescent sweat producing stage lighting. That show was so loud you could feel the pounding like I never had before at any live event. The bass was enormous , tremendous and turned up loud, more than needed and still be loud. Glad I had my home store silicone tethered earplugs handy.
I have mixed feelings here, especially as a Methodist. The volume? Yeah, turn those blasted speakers WAY down, and going unplugged can be considered as a spiritual discipline. That said, Charles’s hymns (often edited by John, IIRC) were frequently set to the music of the day, and was one of the ways they reached people for and with whom they ministered.
