What’s the problem? Our President says everything is fine in the banking sector and no need to panic. We should be celebrating the great economy he has given us.
The Founders set up a system that works when those elected by the people work together to compromise. The current system will not last much longer and America will become the autocracy the hard right seems to want unless the people and their elected representatives wake up to that. One change desperately needed is to to reapportion legislatures so they actually represent all the people they represent; we also need more informed buy-in by all voters and maybe a change to the primary system that favors radicals.
Yet another reason why even traditional U.S. allies are not feeling too positive about the continuing existence of democracy in this nation. These allies are now more likely to go their own way on issues they used to work on with the U.S. such as dealing with mainland China.
The difference between russia and china vs the U.S.; first two are not communist in any way or shape, they are just subjected to one oligarchy each while the U.S. has two oligarchies competing with each other while combining their power to limit and restrict any other parties which may give the citizens the government they deserve.
Read some history, there has always been partisanship, from the days of revolution through the early republic. We look at the past through rose-colored glasses.
Anyone seeing the old “Join or die” cartoon showing the original 13 colonies as broken parts of a snake will understand the original republic was a little shakey also

If we vote out all the Republicans, there won’t be gridlock.

Where on earth did you get the idea that everyone got along in the earl days of the republic? There were fist fights and duels among the politicians.

More gridlock means less laws, regulations, taxes, and other such restrictions on freedom. I am all for it.
