Not much of an exaggeration before Ma Bell broke up

Now you pay eighty bucks a month whether you call anybody or not!

Can you even still make a call from a landline with “operator assistance”?

And it was pretty easy to lose your place six digits in on a dial phone.

I’m glad to see that the Treephone got repaired after yesterday’s accident with TFB. (Or was it called a Teletree?)

If you call long distance with a party line, and someone picks it up to listen, can you make them pay half?

Just yesterday, I called a business and my issue wasn’t in the given options. I tried a couple of close ones, only to end up where I didn’t want to be. So, I mashed the “0” key, hoping that would get me a human, and it did. After discussing my issue, I asked if there was an easier way to get to the correct menu option, or to actually talk to someone and she said "No, just keep hitting the “0”…

Progressive rip-off.

Cellular phones kind of ruined the joy of having a landline. Where I live now I can’t get a pure landline phone anymore which is ridiculous especially if you need to call 911. Cellular phones are good for emergencies but back then we had more patience than we do today. Today’s people will never get the joy of slamming their receiver down when you got mad at somebody. They could, but cellular phones are expensive to replace.

Those were the good old days for AT&T…

And who are “they” here?
