My wife, who taught middle school for 40 years, once had to explain to a student that teachers didn’t sleep at the school, that they had apartments and houses and families and kids just like everyone else. The kid was gobsmacked.
I guess I had a better first grade teacher. When she found out that I could read first grade books she gave me second grade books, then third grade. She pushed me to the highest level that I could handle.
My mom was a first-grade teacher for over 30 years. She kept her hair short but wore a wig to teach. When she was out grocery shopping, etc, many a child told a parent, “It’s her!” But the parent always said, “No. Her hair’s too short.” Clark Kent had glasses. My mom had a wig.
Husband and I have friends from college. She is an English professor. He is involved with comic books, he has written them (Batman) and edited them, etc. So reading literature and comic books can co-exist. (My husband was a Batman villain in one issue our friend wrote.)

That last time I saw my kindergarten teacher was when I was standing in line behind her at the K-Mart.
