When human rights are gone, there will not be the USA, something else yes but people will fight to defend the Republic against a dictatorship; oh once the republic is gone so are the laws protecting those who seek to destroy it; and the 2nd amendment! Maybe people should read Sinclair Lewis’ books again and laugh at how these fools are repeating history and expecting a different outcome. Oh it is the greedy capitalist who are destroying the Republic not any other subgroup. Read history it has been the same since Greece (read Plato’s republic)!

It is long past time for the selective service to not only end gender requirements, but be disbanded as a federal agency.

The military hates the idea of a draft. If Afghanistan had been fought with unwilling draftees it likely would have been over in 6 months top-American public would never have tolerated their sons being sent over there for decades. And if there were a draft, you could register as a “conscientious objector.” Ted never lets the facts get in his way.

The reality is that the Republican will force the trans-woman to register for Selective Service as a “man”, then bar her from service as a trans-woman; a double humiliation. She’s a convenient prop for Rall’s argument to get rid of the US military, I guess.

I wonder what the Russians do with trans-women who are conscripted into their army? I’m sure it’s fine.

I was lucky enough to be the first year to be required to register for the draft when it started back up. We were sure Carter was going to send us all to Iran to get the hostages back. If you have berries and a twig in your pants you gotta sign up…Can you imagine todays 18 yo’s in boot camp as draftees?

No one is denying his identity. He still exists. Whether he denies biology or not is another issue.

Does the current military even allow trans people to enlist? I thought trump, desatan, and co had banned all that.

Whenever I am told that only women’s bodies are controlled (through abortion bans), I remind people that men’s bodies are subject to the draft.

Speaking as a mother of two teenaged daughters, I personally think all should have to register, regardless of gender. Either that, or we stop requiring registration when not in wartime, although I do see a certain appeal to tying draft registration to one’s voter registration — skin in the game, as it were.
