When you’re amoral or you have no empathy, it is a bizarre perverse game.
Conservatives attack empathetic people all the time. They invent new slurs just for empathy every 15 years, like “politically correct”, or “bleeding heart”, or “woke”, etc.Restricted or nonexistent empathy is a prerequisite for conservative ideology.
The entire conservative ethos, everything they say and do, is completely consistent when your starting point is: no empathy.
The bad part is that a lack of fundamental empathy is a innate quality, established in your first few years. It’s very hard to acquire later in life. So a lot of cons are beyond redemption.
Cons hide behind the lowest level of empathy possible, which is restricted to their family or church, …they pretend that they’re fully empathetic people, rather than fully pathetic people.
“In my work with the defendants (at the Nuremberg Trails 1945-1949) I was searching for the nature of evil and I now think I have come close to defining it. A lack of empathy. It’s the one characteristic that connects all the defendants, a genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow men. Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy.”
— Captain G. M. Gilbert, the Army psychologist assigned to watching the defendants at the Nuremberg trials
