Harris is in the unenviable position of being a target of a very loud bunch of haters who don’t like her political party, her gender, her race, and that she had the audacity to be part of a political team that beat their favorite political team (and they want revenge no matter what). Biden turned up the heat by placing her in charge of a very tough problem (illegal immigration at our southern border) and he does not appear to be helping her… On the other hand, Harris is a seasoned politician who should have anticipated all of these problems when she accepted the position. She is failing herself by how she interfaces with the public.
Will Harris’ performance strengthen the glass ceiling against other women? In my humble opinion yes – to some extent – but I also think that glass ceiling has been cracked well enough that it is quite possible for other women to breach it. As always, it takes extraordinary people to reach extraordinary heights.
Just what does a Vice President do that qualifies them as doing the job, good or bad? Their only job is to preside over the Senate, does she do that? As for anything else the Vice President does until called upon by tragedy is totally irrelevant. So, give Harris, Pence, and all the other non-elevated Vice Presidents a pass. They are only a further distraction to the man above them that is screwing up the main job.
