Anna of The King and I had a similar advice about singing a song to chase away the woes. Fortunately, for her, she had a good voice and that was all she really needed, plus the song.
We had a deacon who simply could NOT sing, but the rector insisted anybody can chant. Well, she couldn’t. It was embarrassing for the congregation and mortifying for her. The organist began playing louder and louder, either to help the woman out, or cover her voice.
The saying goes “can’t carry a tune in a bucket”. I can’t carry a tune in a 747, I even mishear notes. Never thought of it as a problem, quite the opposite, no one ever invites me to Karaoke! That’s a win.
I call it self soothing. Singing is actually good for you. It stimulates the vagus nerve which is connected to all the organs of the body and needs to remain in good health for the body to function.

Sing for yourself, not others but maybe do it in private.
