Lets look at the differences of the finding of government documents. I say government instead of top secret or classified. The reason being, is that it doesn’t matter the classification, it matters the documents are the property of the US government.
In Jan of 2022, trump turned in documents when asked by the Nation Archives. In June, the National Archives subpoenaed trump for the return of more government documents. But not all were turned over.Trump was asked to return them, he didn’t and a search warrant was needed to get them back. Biden’s lawyers found documents which were never requested, notified the proper agencies and turned them over.
The search on Mara-a-lago was performed on Aug 8th, 2022. During the search, the FBI found documents that belong to the US government. On Nov 18th, Garland appointed a special counsel, three and a half months after the search warrent, 11 months after they knew trump had government documents that did not belong to him.
Biden’s lawyers found the government documents on Nov 2nd, 2022. Two months later Garland appointed a special counsel.
Someone clearly needs to investigate procedures for handling classified documents by ALL lawmakers, White House, House of Rep., the Senate, even the Courts.
Classified documents are frequently mishandled without constituting a security breach. This event gives Republicans a chance to cry “both sides do it!” But here’s the thing: don’t get too carried away with it. Whatever you accuse Biden of you automatically accuse Trump of, too. That’s on top of all the other crimes Trump committed related to the presidential documents he refused to return.

The GOP’s spin on this is not worthy of the attention it’s getting, but attention is the reason they’re doing it; to distract from the real problem instead of governing in the country’s interest.
