Deceit, distrust, and disrespect are quite effective in the US for eliminating freedom for immigrants, racial/religious minorities, LGBTQ, women, etc.

Which is why we never want to elect Trump or his fascist ilk ever again. After all, Xi’s claim to fame is a booming economy that drove China ahead for years. If the economy’s your only priority, sometimes it’s good to be a dictator.

We have our own problems, lies and misinformation, sponsored by people with an axe to grind, and profits to rake in, and votes to garner.

Is there anyone here who doesn’t fully condemn the actions of the authoritarian CCP? I would hope not, but…

As someone trained in history, it is truly disturbing to see the ignorance dished out here by many commenters as “fact”. To compare on any level what Xi is doing in China (which, by the way, I STRONGLY abhor) to actions by American leaders trying to save lives is false equivalency at its worse. China chose a path that makes their population a pawn in a zero sum Covid prevention game. If reports are to be believed they are experiencing strong push back to those policies. Here the “you’re not the boss of me” crowd is blinded by politics to even the possibility that a more consistent policy early on likely would have saved 10s of 100s of Americans.

There is a vaccination “against” freedom not “for” freedom, it is called ultra-nationalist authoritarianism.

Democrats – Take notice. You try and shut down Freedom of Speech everywhere you can, but we see it. You will not succeed. Our basic instinct is for freedom, of speech and otherwise. Go comment on some liberal’s comic and leave us alone, you losers.
