    The punch line is that they were telling themselves this would be a great boost for their image, but they couldn’t stop being joyless holy enforcers.

    Their religion says “no alcohol” so that doesn’t surprise me; what’s incredibly reprehensible is making all the commitments to get the gig, signing all the contracts, then saying, two days before showtime, “Oh – no beer allowed”. Clearly they cannot be trusted to honor any future contracts or agreements.

    Probably the last FIFA will let a Muslim country host. Can’t be trusted to live up to their contracts and commitments.

    Although it never was a secret that good Muslims shun alcohol, Budweiser, the company that dishonors the name of one of the greatest Bohemian brewing places (right next to Pilsen) by selling waste water as beer just had to spend millions to be World Cup sponsor. That’s karma for ya.
