We are still waiting for Republicans and Republican sympathizers (like Ted) to divulge the conservative secret that convinces them the United States President has even the slightest control over the global oil industry set gas prices.
Throwing blind criticism at President Biden doesn’t help anyone.
I was disappointed with Biden when he released oil from the strategic reserve. Trying to pacify the bellyachers who drive their giant SUVs in exurbia is not what the strategic reserve is for.
The price of gasoline plays a disproportionate part in decisions made by voters.
The president of the U.S. is also a cheerleader, taking actions to raise the nation’s psyche. The president is limited in actions he or she can actually take.
Whine, groan, lie, deceive, complain….that’s all you got? Look at the source of the problem…saudis, Pooty, and opec , and AMERICA isn’t the worst for inflation….maybe try to educate yourselves before making a$$es of yourselves!
At least Biden isn’t a treasonist serial liar, in bed with enemies !!
Sometimes it’s better to keep your mouth shut, and let them believe you’re stupid, than to open your mouth and release all doubt!
Us old timers can remember when a whole election was focused on the threat of a 5 cent/gallon tax. Mind that was when 5 cents was worth.. at least 5 cents.
Is the answer a leftist authoritarian government as opposed to a rightist? I say no to both. We can work out our problems using the constitution that we have, but it requires both parties to be in the hands of men and women of good will. I largely gave up on Republicans years ago, don’t tell me I have to give up on the Democrats too. Yet that seems to be the overarching theme that some on the left would have me believe, discard our constitutional democratic republic in favor of “what exactly?”. And don’t get me started on so called “libertarians”.
The thing is that the President can’t do much about gas prices. But the public – left and right – will insist that he can. So what’s a politician to do?
It’s too bad Ted can’t understand that this is a psychological move designed to shame the oil companies into bringing gas prices in line with oil prices.
To everyone whining about gas prices – and every time they do it – there’s really only one answer.Nationalize US gas/oil production – and THEN the president can actually control the prices.
Actually, gas prices have dropped more like 9 cents since last reserve pull announcement, 15 cents since resent increase peaked and well over a buck since the maximum earlier this year. Let’s at least deal with the actual figures.

Does Ted Rall want the alternative, which as it stands, is the end of Democracy in America?

You’ll notice Ted does not mention the concentration of the oil industry to the point where they control prices.

He also did something during his campaign. He declared war on the fossil fuel industry. How can anyone be surprised at the current situation?

Maybe in Rall’s universe we would be better off letting putin set the gas prices, as our new supreme leader.

Clearly, Biden should throw Ukraine to the wolves & encourage Europe to burn more fossil fuels from Russia.

How, exactly, does Biden make the oil companies give up the windfall profits they’re raking in from price gouging?
