The Democratic Party has a policy of permitting or encouraging a broad spectrum of views among its membership (a big tent). Hopefully, those who made the racist statements will sincerely apologize and work on their unacceptable position… or they can join the Republican Party and feel welcome.

From the cartoon, you might think it was just “whites” who made the racist remarks. Not so. Also, it is not like they were hiding their identities when they said these things. What it really says is that politicians need to be keep under the microscope so they can’t get away with stuff not allowed others. Like parties at the French Laundry, etc, etc, etc, etc…

@BaslimtheBeggar: this does make the point, however, that the hood is the great equalizer: it covers racists of every stripe equally well.

Since the comment was obviously deleted, I kept wondering what it said as I read these other comments. I can only imagine.

If it happened down in the OC it would have been considered normal acceptable behavior, or excuses would have been made to shield those that said it.
