Some people have such magnetic charm that you can’t help but be glad to make their acquaintance. But most people don’t have that kind of charm — including most people who think they do. If someone is sitting alone at lunch, think twice before assuming they’d be happy to have you, a stranger or even a casual acquaintance, sit down beside them. And if you get the wrong answer, think again. They are happy minding their own business and would probably appreciate it if you’d do the same.
1) I don’t limit my kindness to a single day, much less one chosen by persons other than me… especially ones who seem to think their decisions are more important than mine.
2) As others have noted, alone is not necessarily lonely. And even someone who is lonely is not necessarily lonely for the company of myself or yourself.
