My wife and I have given up on writing anything meaningful in those. She just buys a bunch of cards she likes (or doesn’t hate) and when needed she picks one at random and we both sign it.
In the past year, I’ve sent out three heartfelt thank you notes that weren’t technically necessary (my ‘hairdresser’ retired, etc). Nary a response from any of them.
