I’m going to be that guy and mention that the quote is technically “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18 KJV.
This isn’t a slap at the comic or the cartoonist: the form given is standard and thus the right choice, but as a pedant, I just have to mention the correct form. Shakespearean and biblical (especially KJV) quotes tend to get mangled.
