Our State Department will not reveal how many Americans are in custody in Russia. Griner gets the most attention, but there are others. I hope our State Department gets them ALL home. But for now, Griner doesn’t have to ever hear the US National Anthem, so at least she has that going for her. :P

In a non-invasion year, Griner’s billionaire employer in Russia would have been able to get her out with a few well placed bribes. She’s not the only American caught up in Putin’s vendetta.

In how many of our States would she have been arrested and jailed for possession of hash oil? I know there are tens of thousands of people, mostly black, in jail today for pot related offenses.

Biden should decree cannabis legal in the U.S. before he can claim Griner’s innocence in Russia.

So we are going to let an arms dealer and a murderer go in exchange to get back a basket player and a “businessman”. Why were they there? To make money…if no spying was involved.

Russia is known for selectively picking off high profile citizens from many countries. It’s a bonus to give them good reason by taking contraband with you.

You did the crime you do the time. It’s a lot better than allowing those two Russkis to get out and being part of taking more lives.

The State Department and US elected officials are to blame too. Put out the warning about these countries who violate human rights, and tell them if they want to go there and risk jailing then don’t expect any deals to be made.

Her’s is a Cautionary tale to future travelers Before they travel anywhere. Be sure to check the State Dept travel advisories; call the State Dept and ask about the policies if the advisory is not clear for your particular concern. Russian payback for perceived slights and political statement/leverage is Not unknown.

Putin wants to lock up someone for something as harmless as oil, meanwhile he’s blatantly invading a country for no apparent reason than self gratitude!

Somebody once quipped to me that Russians plant potatoes to make vodka to give them the strength to plant more potatoes…
