You afraid you’ll get beat up if you do it yourself.

Weirdness of HR. Company headquarters sent an HR guy to close our remote engineering office and lay us off. I told him I had purchased my own back-up HD for my work because corporate IT limited my data storage and I needed my simulation results when our parts were to be tested. “Can I be paid for the drive or can I keep the hard drive?” I asked. His response; “You can have the hard drive.” I walked out with my pink slip, my coffee cup and the hard drive with the data of the complete design schematics, layout and simulation results of their next product!

Of course I wiped the drive clean at home.

The company, later, was sold to a foreign company. “Globalized!”

Did you all notice how one of the pink slips had a little golden parachute attached to it?

Can Layoff Man lay off the layoffs for awhile.

I gave my retirement notice months in advance and told my boss that if there was a layoff, to put my name on the list. So somebody younger could keep their job. They let some guys go, but kept me on and I retired a few months later.

In my experience, the person put in charge of the layoffs was considered nonessential and laid off at the end of their task.

They will use anyway at all to layoff people!

Don’t know where this is, but even tech jobs are going begging right now.
