I think it would be useful to consider just why they’re having trouble hiring and keeping pilots. I know that my bro in law (long retired) absolutely loved flying and considered being a pilot for AA to be the high point of his career.
How much of the labor shortage-pilots or otherwise-is due to demographics? I have been reading about this impending crisis for years. The baby boomers are retiring and there are fewer people to replace them. I know of no one who disputes that. Maybe the pandemic just gave the process a boost? Moving forward, won’t this continue to be a problem unless we look for solutions that-GASP-might include reasonable immigration law/migrant worker reform?
I’m thinking there are no airlines that should be paying any corporate bonuses this year. Aren’t bonuses supposed to be give for doing a good job. If the CEO takes the most because of their ‘responsibilities’ it’s time for them to suck it up, admit they suck and stop trying to delegate the blame, so they can justify their outrageous bonuses.
Time and again, airline employees have been asked to sacrifice for the company, and they have gone above and beyond to do so. There is a point that they have sacrificed enough, I believe we’ve hit that point.
In that, next time you fly treat the crew with respect, not as your servants. Much as serving food and drinks is part of their job, their real job is to keep you safe in case of an emergency. Remember that.
And this is why we stopped flying commercial, or at least drastically cut it, when we bought a little preowned Cessna P337G in 1999. One of the girls became a dam-n fine co-pilot before she went off to university with her sister. Gonna take it east to visit cousins and Oshkoh later this summer.

Chip isn’t this situation to your advantage? Your base doesn’t want to see “the other” so if they can’t go anywhere they stay in their bubble.

Bok and his sort just want to see more people die from COVID. They believe (since the don’t think) that it is so much fun.

Don’t feed the trolls. There’s no point.
I guess it doesn’t matter that much today, since this is one of those rare occasions where Bok makes a good point and doesn’t lie at all.
Still, don’t waste your time.
