Our gym teacher, Mrs. Pennell, was cruel. She had us running laps that she called ‘Up and overs’. Those consisted of running the perimeter of the gym, then up the stairs into the balcony, across, down the other stairs, and that was one lap. She was known to demand thirty laps.
