I remember many years ago my family visiting Missouri in the middle of summer. Daytime temperatures were in the 90s and the humidity was at least in the upper 80%, but you go into a cave for a tour and it was like 62° or something close to that. Felt great. More caves!

We used to take the family to a family camp for a week each summer. We always went the first week of camp, which meant the staff had just arrived. Several times the staff got lost on hikes they were leading, and us experienced campers had to lead them back to camp.

I used to do a bit of spelunking as a teen with a carbide lantern, chalk, rope and a canteen of water. Never got lost but also knew when not to go any further. In temperate North America, a cave like Carlsbad Caverns, or Mammoth Cave will have more or less steady temperature of about 58 degrees. Nice and cool on a hot summer day.

My family went through a phase where we toured caves, not just big ones like Shenandoah Caverns, but smaller ones as well :)

Why they are vacationing in caves. The store can’t call them. Job I had once was 24/7 type. I made sure I chose vacations in the middle of nowhere with no reception so I could have a break. They were the most dull vacations, but I went back recharged.
