    Over the years, I’ve heard people describe how they’d try not to be selected for a jury, but it’s generally not quite this blatant.

    When I’ve gotten a call for jury duty, it’s never gone this far. They have just had me (and others) sitting around the courthouse for several hours before they announced that we weren’t needed. I don’t know if I’d actually want to be on a jury, but I wouldn’t deliberately avoid it.

    I have been called 4 times. The first time was back in the 70’s. I went to the Court House, and they filled the pool before they got to me. The second time was in the 80’s. I sat around all week reading books. The third and fourth times I was on a jury within an hour or so after arriving Monday morning. Both were criminal cases. Both were very interesting and very educational, especially as to how the system works . . . and sometimes . . . doesn’t work.
